Letterpress Posters: Cut, Collaborate, & Print!
Price
$100
Duration
Saturday, August 9, 11am-3pm
About the Course
In this fast-paced workshop, we'll embrace spontaneity while printing 2-color posters with craft foam and vintage wood type. Each participant will create a freehand cut-out shape in craft foam, as a group we will lay out the shapes as one collaborative background layer. Once our backgrounds are printed, each participant will learn how to typeset a phrase to print on top using Signal-Return's collection of antique wood type.
This workshop will be led by our visiting artist in residence, Maddy Underwood, and her collaborator Liz Isakson-Dado, a regular instructor at Signal-Return. This is a type and shape based poster workshop. Come with an idea of shapes to cutout and what your posters might say. Think short and sweet, try to keep text within 6 words or less and/or 40 letters.
The end result will be a set of posters to take home that is both collaborative and unique. All skill levels are welcome!
