PHILOSOPHY
I believe that the role of pedagogy in studio art is to place students in a thriving, interdisciplinary context, instilling both a conceptual understanding of contemporary art and a strong skill-set to achieve their artistic goals. My role as a professor is to empower through critique, creating a collaborative, student-centered approach to dialogue that inspires, rather than problematizes, a work in progress.
Diversity and inclusion should be fostered in the arts in order to channel powerful communication between the artist and viewer. I am certain that my commitment to teaching studio art as a dynamic, contemporary practice will
inspire and challenge students to create thoughtful and well-crafted artwork.
